REGISTRATION OPEN FOR 10th Annual HOPR
Mark your
calendars: the 10th Annual Head
of the Passaic Regatta takes place on Sunday, October 17!
The 3-mile head race is co-organized
again this year by Nereid and PRRA, the Passaic River Rowing Association.
Already, dozens of rowers across the tristate area have registered for the
race, which runs from the Union Avenue bridge to just below the PRRA.
- To participate, please check our website (http://www.hopr.org) for
registration information. We run races for most boat types, including for
recreational singles, and rowing levels, from novice to juniors and masters.
- We need your support! Sponsorship
opportunities start at $20 for one line in the regatta program, $100 for a
business card size ad, and from there up.
Please see the sponsorship letter attached to this email.
- Please help us succeed! Please sign up as a volunteer by filling in
the form on the regatta website. Volunteering is a lot of fun and a great
way to meet many other Nereid and PRRA members.
We look forward to the
day!

NEREID TO FEATURE IN NPR SERIES
As part of a 5-part series on the Passaic River, National Public Radio
reporters visited Nereid this week to learn about rowing on our favorite
waterway. A radio producer and videographer interviewed club members and took a
spin on the river. The series,
slated for mid-October, is expected to focus on the industrial
history and legacy of the river, and whether the trade-off between
economic development and the pollution of the river was worthwhile. Rowing figures into the story as a positive example
of the river’s “reincarnation.” If
you have stories or photos to share, or wish to ask a question about the
Passaic, email NPR at river@npr.org
